Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala are on an unprecedented surge, climbing by a staggering ₹2,080 in just two days and inching closer to the ₹87,000 milestone. On Tuesday alone, the price shot up by ₹1,040 per sovereign (8 grams), setting a new all-time high of ₹86,760 per sovereign. The per-gram rate now stands at ₹10,845, after a jump of ₹130 today.
The rally began on Monday when gold broke past the ₹85,000 barrier for the first time, with a combined rise of ₹1,040 in a single day. At the beginning of September, gold was trading at ₹77,640 per sovereign, but it has since gained momentum, crossing ₹80,000 on September 9 and smashing records almost daily.
Market experts attribute this relentless surge to global market volatility and a growing shift of investors towards gold as a safe-haven asset.
