Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala have surged to new record levels, with one sovereign now costing ₹82,920 and gram gold at ₹10,365. Today alone, rates jumped by ₹320 in the morning and surged another ₹360 by noon. With taxes and making charges, prices are expected to climb even higher.
Earlier this month, gold was priced at ₹77,640, and on September 9, it had crossed the ₹80,000 mark. Over just three weeks, sovereign gold has gained over ₹5,000.
The recent rally comes after renewed buying demand and a rise in international gold prices, following a temporary dip due to falling US interest rates. Analysts say the upward trend is likely to continue amid sustained demand.
