Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala have surged by ₹1,600 per sovereign over the past two days, reaching a monthly high. On Tuesday alone, the price jumped by ₹760, pushing the rate of one sovereign (8 grams) to a staggering ₹75,040. The price of 1 gram of gold now stands at ₹9,380, following a ₹95 increase.
Earlier this month, gold was priced at ₹72,160 per sovereign and even dipped to ₹72,000 on July 9, marking the lowest level of the month. Since then, prices have been on a consistent upward trajectory.
As India remains one of the world’s top gold consumers, importing massive quantities annually, even minor global market movements continue to significantly influence domestic gold prices.
