Fresh Amoebic Brain Fever Case in Kozhikode: 43-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized, Six Active Cases in District

Kozhikode: Kerala has reported yet another case of the rare and dangerous amoebic meningoencephalitis (amoebic brain fever). The latest patient is a 43-year-old woman from Pantheerankavu, Kozhikode, who is now receiving treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Doctors have confirmed that her condition remains stable and not critical. With this, the total number of active cases in Kozhikode has climbed to six, raising fresh concerns in the district.

The infection has not been limited to Kozhikode alone — Malappuram and Wayanad have also reported cases in recent weeks.

Amid rising alerts, the Health Department has urged the public to maintain strict caution and preventive measures, stressing the importance of early detection and awareness to curb further spread.
