New Delhi: Starting this Independence Day, highway travel is set to become faster and cheaper. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will roll out a new FASTag-based annual pass that slashes yearly toll costs from around ₹10,000 to just ₹3,000.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the pass will not only save motorists significant money but also cut down on long waits at toll plazas, making road trips smoother and quicker.
Designed for residents within a 60 km radius of toll booths, the initiative addresses long-standing complaints over delays and congestion, aiming to keep traffic moving and travel times shorter.
