Early Arrival Turns Sour: Air India Flight Lands on Time, Leaves Passengers’ Baggage Behind in Mumbai

New Delhi: What began as a pleasant surprise quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal for passengers aboard an Air India flight from Mumbai to Delhi, after the aircraft landed five minutes ahead of schedule—without a large portion of the passengers’ luggage.

Air India flight AI 2677, which landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, had taken off from Mumbai as scheduled. However, upon reaching the baggage claim area, passengers were shocked to learn that their bags had not arrived with the flight. Nearly 40 passengers were affected after an entire cargo container of baggage was left behind at Mumbai airport.

Air India officials cited unexpected technical issues as the reason for the lapse, stating that the baggage had to be offloaded in Mumbai. However, authorities did not provide passengers with specific details about the nature of the technical problem, adding to the confusion and anger.

The incident caused considerable inconvenience, especially for travellers who had onward journeys and urgent commitments. For many, the early landing brought little comfort as they were forced to wait for assurances on the delivery of their missing luggage.
