Cyclone Ditwah Triggers Heavy Rainfall; Yellow Alert Issued in Five Kerala Districts

The influence of Cyclone Ditwah has intensified weather conditions across Kerala, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to predict heavy rainfall in several parts of the state today. As a precautionary measure, a Yellow Alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts, where isolated heavy showers are expected.

Cyclone Ditwah, currently positioned over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lankan coast, has strengthened further. The system is moving in a north–northwest direction and is likely to approach the north Tamil Nadu–Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coasts by the morning of November 30, according to IMD forecasts.

With strong winds already affecting the coastal belts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, authorities have urged residents to remain cautious. The region is also expected to receive intense rainfall as the cyclone nears the coastline.

Kerala, too, is bracing for prolonged wet conditions. The IMD has predicted continuous rainfall over the next four days as Cyclone Ditwah influences the state’s weather pattern. Authorities have advised the public to stay alert and follow safety guidelines, especially in vulnerable and hilly areas prone to landslides and flash floods.
