Crypto Kingpin Caught: Kerala Police Nab US-Wanted Scammer in Varkala

Thiruvananthapuram: In a high-profile crackdown, Kerala Police arrested Alexei Besciokov, a Russian crypto scammer wanted by US authorities, from a secluded homestay in Varkala. The fugitive, accused of running a multi-million-dollar cryptocurrency fraud, had been evading arrest for months, using a fake identity to stay under the radar.

Acting on an Interpol tip-off, Kerala Police launched a covert surveillance mission to track Besciokov. The operation culminated in a swift raid on a beachside homestay, where the scammer was apprehended without resistance. The arrest was conducted in coordination with central intelligence agencies, marking a significant victory in cross-border crime enforcement.

Besciokov is alleged to be the mastermind behind a global Ponzi scheme that lured thousands of investors across the US and Europe with false promises of high crypto returns. The scam unraveled, leaving investors with crippling financial losses. Following multiple complaints, the US issued an international warrant for his arrest.

After his court appearance in Kerala, authorities are working closely with Interpol and US law enforcement to process Besciokov’s extradition. His capture has intensified discussions on cybercriminals exploiting India as a hideout, prompting Kerala Police to tighten foreigner surveillance in major tourist hotspots.

This sensational arrest underscores Kerala’s growing role in tackling global cybercrime, reinforcing the state’s commitment to aiding international investigations.
