Thiruvananthapuram: Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India, is set to arrive in Kerala today for a three-day visit to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. During the visit, Gyanesh Kumar will assess the overall election readiness across the state and also examine the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
Gyanesh Kumar is expected to reach Kochi at around 5:30 PM today. Over the next two days, Gyanesh Kumar will hold a series of key meetings with representatives of political parties, as well as senior officials including the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Chief Secretary to evaluate security and administrative arrangements. Gyanesh Kumar is also scheduled to address a press conference on Saturday. The visit comes amid reports that Assembly elections in Kerala could be held in the last week of April, with the state among five across India preparing for crucial legislative polls.
