Centre Sanctions ₹206.56 Crore for Wayanad Landslide Reconstruction, ₹4,654.60 Crore Aid to Nine States

New Delhi: The Central Government has approved ₹4,654.60 crore for disaster relief and reconstruction across nine states, with Kerala’s Wayanad receiving ₹206.56 crore for rebuilding the Mundakkai–Chooralmala region devastated by landslides.

The decision was cleared by a high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Additionally, ₹2,444.42 crore has been allocated for urban flood control projects in 11 cities, including Thiruvananthapuram. The Kerala capital is part of the second phase of the Urban Flood Risk Management Project, under which 90% of the expenses will be met by the Centre and 10% by the state.
