CBSE Makes Audio-Enabled CCTV Mandatory in Schools to Boost Campus Security

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all its affiliated schools to install CCTV cameras with audio recording capabilities. This initiative aims to improve real-time monitoring and ensure a safer environment for students and staff.

According to the new guidelines, schools must place CCTV cameras in critical locations including classrooms, corridors, staircases, lobbies, libraries, laboratories, canteens, store rooms, playgrounds, and other common areas. The surveillance systems must also support live monitoring to allow quick response to any incidents.

Additionally, the board has instructed schools to retain video and audio footage for at least two weeks, ensuring authorities have access to essential evidence when required.

CBSE has made it mandatory for all affiliated schools to comply with this directive in order to maintain their affiliation status. The board emphasized that the move is a proactive step toward fostering a more secure and transparent educational atmosphere.
