Kochi : A writ petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the revelations of sexual harassment outlined in the Justice K Hema Committee report. The petition, submitted by A Jannath and another individual, highlights concerns about the political and financial influence of the accused, fearing that an impartial investigation might not be conducted by state authorities.
The petition also urges the Kerala government to enact legislation to protect women working in the film industry, in line with the committee’s recommendations. The petitioners criticized the state government for withholding the report from the public for five years, allegedly under the pretext of protecting privacy, and accused the government of lacking commitment to the safety of women in the cinema industry.
Furthermore, the petition calls for the establishment of a Special Court to handle cases related to the allegations mentioned in the report, including any new findings from the previously redacted sections of the report. The case has drawn significant attention due to the gravity of the allegations and the perceived delay in taking action to address the issues raised.
