C.P. Radhakrishnan Files Nomination for Vice President; NDA Shows Strong Unity with PM Modi, Amit Shah’s Backing

The NDA formally put forward its Vice Presidential candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan, who filed his nomination papers today in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior leaders.

Radhakrishnan submitted four sets of nomination papers to Returning Officer P.C. Mody, with Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh listed as proposers. The nomination process was marked by a grand gathering of NDA leaders, turning it into a major political event.

Several prominent leaders—including Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Dharmendra Pradhan, TDP’s K. Ram Mohan Naidu, Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde, and LJP’s Chirag Paswan—accompanied Radhakrishnan. Before filing, he paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and national leaders at Parliament’s Prerna Sthal.

On the Opposition front, Justice Sudarshan Reddy, candidate of the INDIA bloc, is set to file his nomination tomorrow, the final day for submissions. Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party, led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, has pledged its support to the NDA nominee, adding its 11 MPs to the NDA tally. The TDP has also declared support, while K. Chandrashekar Rao’s BRS has said it will announce its decision later.
