Big Relief at Supplyco Counters: Coconut Oil Price Slashed, Subsidised Essentials Get New Rates

Thiruvananthapuram: Offering much-needed relief to consumers amid rising market prices, the state government has announced a revision of prices for subsidised essential commodities sold through Supplyco. The move follows an assessment of price trends in the open market, the Food and Civil Supplies Department said.

In a major highlight of the decision, the price of Shabari non-subsidised coconut oil available at Supplyco outlets has been reduced by ₹20 per litre, bringing it down from ₹329 to ₹309.

Along with the coconut oil price cut, revised rates for key subsidised food items have also come into effect across the state. The updated prices are:

  • Toor dal: ₹83 per kilogram
  • Coriander: ₹45 for 500 grams
  • Coconut oil (subsidised and non-subsidised): ₹289 per litre

Officials said the revision is aimed at cushioning households from inflationary pressures while ensuring affordable access to essential commodities through the state-run Supplyco network.
