New Delhi: In a fiercely contested Delhi Assembly election, AAP leader and Chief Minister Atishi Marlena clinched victory in the Kalkaji constituency, defeating BJP’s former MP Ramesh Bidhuri by 2,795 votes. The nail-biting contest saw multiple lead changes before Atishi finally secured the win.
Following her victory, Atishi reaffirmed her party’s commitment to challenging the BJP. “This is just the beginning. Our fight for the people of Delhi and against BJP’s policies will continue,” she declared.
However, AAP suffered major setbacks as two of its senior leaders—Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia—were defeated. In a stunning upset, BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma unseated Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, marking the AAP chief’s first-ever election loss. Similarly, Sisodia lost the Jangpura seat to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by a narrow margin of 675 votes.
The results signal a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape, with the BJP gaining momentum and AAP facing its toughest electoral challenge yet.
