Arlekar’s Bold First-Day Move: Kerala Governor Halts Govt Decision, Reinstates Khan’s Security Team

Thiruvananthapuram: On his very first day in office, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar made a decisive move by reversing a government decision to transfer police officers from the Governor’s security detail. The officers in question were reportedly trusted aides of former Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.

The government had replaced them with personnel favored by the administration and the Home Department. However, the removed officers approached the Governor with their grievances, prompting Arlekar to summon ADGP Manoj Abraham to Raj Bhavan for an explanation.

After reviewing the situation, the Governor directed the reinstatement of the transferred officers, signaling a bold assertion of authority. This intervention has set the stage for potential friction between the Governor’s office and the state government.
