Telugu superstar Allu Arjun finds himself entangled in legal proceedings following a tragic stampede incident on December 4, 2024, during the premiere of his much-anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. The chaos resulted in the heartbreaking death of a 35-year-old woman and left her eight-year-old son injured.
In response to a complaint filed by the victim’s family, Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The actor was subsequently arrested on December 13 and remanded to judicial custody by the Nampally court. However, the Telangana High Court later granted him interim bail, leading to his release on December 14.
On December 27, Allu Arjun appeared virtually for his bail hearing, citing security concerns. With the police requesting more time to file their counter, the court adjourned the hearing to December 30.
In a heartfelt gesture, Allu Arjun and the Pushpa 2 team announced ₹2 crore as compensation for the victim’s family. The actor contributed ₹1 crore, while Mythri Movies and director Sukumar provided ₹50 lakh each. Film producer Dil Raju personally handed over the compensation.
While Pushpa 2 continues to enjoy commercial success, the shadow of this tragedy looms large, with the upcoming December 30 court hearing expected to decide the actor’s legal fate.
