Air Kerala Chooses Cochin International Airport as Hub, Set to Launch in June 2025

In a major leap for Kerala’s aviation sector, Air Kerala has officially named Cochin International Airport (CIAL) as its operational hub, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the state’s first-ever airline. The airline is set to launch its inaugural flight from Kochi in June 2025, aiming to revolutionize air travel for both residents and visitors.

Initially, Air Kerala will focus on ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) services, operating domestic routes connecting major cities across southern and central India. The airline’s fleet will consist of five aircraft, each designed with 76 economy seats, ensuring budget-friendly options for travelers. In a nod to its regional identity, nearly 50% of the cabin crew will be Malayali.

Looking to the future, Air Kerala has bold plans to extend its network internationally by 2027, enhancing global connectivity for Kerala while boosting tourism and business exchanges. The move will strengthen the state’s presence on the global aviation map.

This strategic initiative reflects Kerala’s commitment to improving regional connectivity, offering affordable travel, and fostering economic growth through accessible air travel options.
