Air India Faces Fresh Setback: Ahmedabad-London Flight Cancelled After Technical Glitch Amid Safety Concerns

Air India’s much-anticipated first Ahmedabad–London service since last week’s tragic crash was called off on Tuesday due to a technical malfunction, adding to a growing list of flight disruptions that are shaking passenger confidence.

Flight AI 159, scheduled for takeoff at 1:10 PM, was grounded before departure, with all passengers deboarded safely. Air India confirmed that full ticket refunds would be provided to all travelers affected by the sudden cancellation.

This incident marks the sixth flight cancellation by Air India in just two weeks, raising serious questions about the airline’s operational reliability and maintenance standards.

The cancellation follows the June 12 disaster, where Flight AI 171 crashed minutes after takeoff, claiming 274 lives — including 33 on the ground — and leaving only one survivor from the 242 passengers on board. The tragedy sent shockwaves across the nation and triggered scrutiny of airline safety practices.

With a series of back-to-back technical failures and cancellations, passenger anxiety is mounting, and calls for stricter oversight of airline operations are growing louder.
