Thiruvananthapuram: Activist Rahul Easwar, currently under judicial custody, was rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital after his health deteriorated due to an ongoing hunger strike inside the Poojappura Central Jail.
Rahul was initially taken for routine medical evaluation on Friday afternoon, with plans to return him to the jail. However, doctors ordered immediate admission, citing a sharp decline in his health condition.
Easwar was arrested for allegedly humiliating a young woman who had filed a complaint against YouTuber Rahul Mankootathil. Rahul is listed as the fifth accused in the case.
In a related development, Rahul Easwar’s bail plea has been postponed to tomorrow following a technical issue raised in court. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court directed Easwar to withdraw one of the two bail pleas he had filed in different courts.
Meanwhile, the police have sought further custody, claiming that Easwar is not cooperating with the investigation, according to submissions by the Cyber Police.
Earlier, Rahul approached the Sessions Court challenging the legality of his arrest and questioning the invocation of non-bailable charges by the police.
