New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday celebrated a major milestone in India’s digital journey by sharing an article marking the 10-year anniversary of the Digital India initiative. Launched on July 1, 2015, the transformative programme aimed to build a digitally empowered society and knowledge-driven economy — and has now emerged as a cornerstone of India’s development strategy.
In a social media post, PM Modi described the initiative as a “symbol of inclusive growth and innovation”, noting that Digital India has redefined governance, enhanced transparency, and empowered millions through technology.
The article, titled “A Decade of Digital Empowerment”, showcases key achievements of the initiative — from the explosive growth of broadband and mobile connectivity, to the global success of platforms like UPI, and the seamless integration of Aadhaar-based services into everyday life.
Digital India has also led to widespread adoption of e-Governance tools such as DigiLocker, e-Hospital, and telemedicine, extending essential services to even the most remote corners of the country.
Importantly, the Prime Minister emphasized that the programme has bridged the rural-urban divide, bringing digital access and opportunity to every Indian, regardless of geography.
As India celebrates 10 years of this visionary mission, PM Modi’s message stands as both a tribute to its impact and a call to accelerate innovation as the nation builds a stronger, tech-driven future.
