Gold Shines Brighter in Kerala: Prices Soar to ₹78,920 per Sovereign After ₹560 Daily Surge

Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala have touched fresh highs once again, with rates shooting up by ₹560 in a single day. A sovereign (8 grams) of gold now costs ₹78,920, while the price per gram has climbed to ₹9,865.

In just two weeks, gold has become dearer by nearly ₹5,000, breaking records almost daily. After a minor dip yesterday, the metal has rebounded sharply, reaffirming its strong upward trend.

From ₹75,760 on August 8, prices had dipped briefly to ₹73,440 on August 20, only to bounce back and surge past all-time levels.

Analysts link the spike to global factors, including the U.S. imposing a 50% tariff on Indian imports, which rattled stock markets. With investors turning to gold as a safe haven, demand has intensified, sending prices soaring.
