Thiruvananthapuram – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has downgraded the red alert to an orange alert for the northern districts of Kannur and Kasaragod, following a reduction in the intensity of rainfall. The change comes as weather conditions show signs of improvement after days of heavy downpours.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts for Wednesday, with the IMD forecasting isolated heavy rainfall in these areas.
Authorities have urged residents in alert zones to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and hilly regions, where there is still a risk of landslides and flash floods.
Disaster management teams remain on standby as the state continues to monitor weather developments closely. Fishermen have also been advised to exercise caution while venturing into the sea.
