Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand – Massive flash floods triggered by heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Dharali and surrounding areas of Uttarkashi district, leaving behind destruction and prompting large-scale rescue operations. One body has been recovered, while 150 people have been successfully rescued so far.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is personally monitoring the situation and has directed all concerned departments to work in coordination to ensure swift relief. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has also joined the rescue and relief operations, deploying helicopters and personnel to evacuate stranded villagers and deliver essential supplies.
The flash floods, caused by intense rainfall and rising water levels in the region, damaged roads, disrupted communication lines, and swept away homes and vehicles. Rescue teams, including NDRF, SDRF, and local police, are on the ground, working around the clock in challenging conditions.
CM Dhami has assured that relief camps have been set up, and those affected are being provided with food, shelter, and medical assistance. The state government has also announced compensation for the families of victims and those who have suffered property loss.
Authorities continue to issue alerts, urging people in vulnerable areas to remain indoors and cooperate with rescue teams. The situation is being closely monitored as more rainfall is expected in the coming days.
