Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to face another spell of intense rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing yellow alerts for eight districts on Saturday and Sunday. The affected districts include Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Isolated areas may also experience gusty winds up to 40 kmph, adding to weather concerns.
The wet spell will persist into next week, with seven districts — Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod — remaining under yellow alert on Monday.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the rain threat continues in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, indicating a prolonged wet phase for northern and central Kerala.
Despite the rainfall warnings, the IMD has ruled out any restrictions on fishing activities along the Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts today. Still, coastal residents and fishermen are advised to remain cautious and stay updated with official weather advisories.
