New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised India’s youth for driving a wave of technology-led innovation that is transforming the country and reinforcing its path toward self-reliance. Marking 11 years of the Digital India initiative, the Prime Minister highlighted how the ambitious program has revolutionized public service delivery, empowered citizens, and fostered a vibrant startup ecosystem.
In a statement, the Prime Minister said, “India’s young minds are scripting a digital revolution. Their innovations are not only solving local challenges but also setting global benchmarks. This youth-led momentum is the biggest strength of a self-reliant India.”
Over the past decade, the Digital India initiative has expanded internet connectivity to remote areas, digitized government services, and promoted digital literacy among millions. From e-governance platforms to AI-powered startups, India is now among the top countries in terms of digital public infrastructure and innovation.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the role of initiatives like UPI (Unified Payments Interface), DigiLocker, Aadhaar, and PM-WANI, noting that they have fundamentally changed the way citizens access and interact with essential services.
With over 1.2 billion Aadhaar enrollments, billions of UPI transactions monthly, and a thriving tech startup ecosystem, India’s digital transformation is being increasingly recognized on the world stage.
Experts say this momentum has positioned India not just as a consumer of global technology but as a key innovator and exporter of digital solutions. The Prime Minister concluded by encouraging continued collaboration between government, industry, and academia to sustain this digital growth and ensure inclusive development.
