Indian Coffee House Unveils Signature Tea Brand Using Wayanad’s Priyadarshini Estate Leaves

Kannur: Indian Coffee House has launched its own branded tea for the first time, starting from its Kannur branch. The new product, aptly named “Indian Coffee House Tea”, is crafted from premium tea leaves sourced from the state-run Priyadarshini Tea Estate in Wayanad.

This initiative marks a significant milestone for the iconic workers’ cooperative, as all branches will now serve tea prepared using this in-house blend. Customers visiting any Indian Coffee House outlet will also have the opportunity to taste the tea before purchase, making the experience both personal and premium.

The official launch was inaugurated by O.R. Kelu, Minister for SC/ST and OBC Welfare. “This is a strategic step toward diversification,” said Balakrishnan N, President of the Indian Coffee Workers’ Co-operative Society. “Following the successful introduction of our branded coffee powder and bottled water, the new tea line is expected to boost cooperative revenues while offering a reliable market for the Priyadarshini Estate.”

The tea is being introduced in 250-gram packets priced at ₹65, available initially at Indian Coffee House outlets. Expansion into supermarkets is also on the horizon.

The Priyadarshini Estate, once part of a tribal rehabilitation initiative, is set to receive a much-needed revival through this venture—creating sustainable income and wider recognition for its produce.
