Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Education Department will conduct a statewide student census on June 10, a key step in shaping teacher appointments and educational infrastructure for the upcoming academic year. Education Minister V. Sivankutty emphasized that only students with a valid Unique ID (UID) will be included in the final count.
The online census must be completed by 5 PM tomorrow, and any submissions made after the deadline will not be considered for official data or planning. The Minister issued a stern warning that headmasters will be held responsible for any inaccuracies or lapses.
As part of broader reforms, the government is also preparing to launch a state-wide anti-drug campaign in schools, featuring dedicated assemblies and awareness drives to protect students from substance abuse.
Minister Sivankutty further noted that Plus One admissions are progressing smoothly, with no major complaints this year. The expanded number of seats and batches introduced last year has helped accommodate more students in 2025 admissions.
Addressing a recent controversy, the Minister confirmed that the school headmaster who allowed a POCSO case accused to attend a school function has been suspended by the management.
This student census is seen as a critical administrative operation that will directly influence resource allocation and educational policy across Kerala for the year ahead.
