PM Modi to Launch ‘Rising Northeast Investors Summit’ on May 23, Aiming to Transform Region into Economic Powerhouse

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first-ever Rising Northeast Investors Summit on May 23 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The high-profile two-day event, organized by the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in partnership with FICCI and Invest India, is set to unlock the vast investment and trade potential of India’s Northeast.

Bringing together over 2,000 key stakeholders, the summit will see participation from chief ministers of northeastern states, Union ministers, foreign diplomats, global investors, policymakers, and leading industry figures. The agenda covers nine high-growth sectors including agriculture, textiles, tourism, sports, education, healthcare, IT, energy, and infrastructure.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized that Northeast India is poised to be the country’s next growth engine, given its rich natural resources, skilled workforce, and strategic gateway to Southeast Asia. Notably, the summit has already drawn investment proposals exceeding ₹1 lakh crore even before its commencement.

Key features of the summit include sector-specific discussions, government-to-business (G2B) and business-to-business (B2B) meetings, and state-wise exhibitions, creating a vibrant platform for partnerships and strategic alliances.

The event reaffirms the Centre’s commitment to inclusive development and aligns with India’s ‘Act East Policy’ and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, positioning the Northeast as a future hub for manufacturing, services, and innovation.
