Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Praises Karnataka’s Apple Farming Success, Highlights India’s Green Achievements

In the 121st episode of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s growing green innovations, sharing inspiring stories of agricultural transformation and environmental commitment across the country.

One standout story the Prime Minister highlighted was that of Shail Teli from Karnataka, who has successfully ventured into apple cultivation — a crop traditionally associated with colder regions like Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. PM Modi praised Teli’s spirit of innovation, noting how climate-resilient agricultural techniques and scientific farming methods enabled apple farming to flourish in Karnataka’s diverse conditions.

“This story of growing apples in Karnataka symbolizes the changing face of Indian agriculture, where farmers are embracing innovation and making the impossible possible,” PM Modi said. He emphasized that such success stories inspire farmers across India to adopt new crops, use technology, and lead the movement towards self-reliance in food production.

Besides agriculture, the Prime Minister also spotlighted broader green initiatives, including India’s leadership in renewable energy, water conservation efforts, and the increased adoption of eco-friendly lifestyles by citizens. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving its ambitious environmental goals, such as attaining net-zero emissions by 2070.

The PM encouraged listeners, especially the youth, to actively participate in the upcoming World Environment Day activities and take personal initiatives to protect nature. He stressed that the combined power of small, everyday green actions can lead to monumental positive changes for the planet.

“Mann Ki Baat continues to be a platform to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of ordinary Indians,” PM Modi said, as he concluded the episode with a call for collective responsibility towards building a greener, sustainable India.
