Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has been crowned the No. 1 state in the Food Safety Index 2024, a prestigious recognition awarded by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This top ranking highlights Kerala’s leadership in food safety, showcasing its commitment to maintaining exceptional hygiene and food quality standards.
The state excelled in crucial areas such as enforcement, compliance, infrastructure, and laboratory testing, thanks to its proactive approach in implementing rigorous food safety regulations. Regular inspections, public awareness campaigns, and effective governance have been central to Kerala’s success.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan applauded the health and food safety departments for their relentless efforts, emphasizing that the honor reflects Kerala’s unwavering dedication to public health. He further stated that the state would continue to raise the bar for food safety across the nation.
The Food Safety Index, published annually, assesses state performances in ensuring the quality and safety of food. Kerala’s achievement marks a major milestone, setting a national benchmark for food safety excellence.
