Kalpatta, Aug 10 (IVC) The Prime Minister Narendra M arrived here this morning with a view to assessing the intensity of the landslides at Mundukkai, Chooralma and Punchirimattam in the Wayanad District where landslides caused devastating damage for property and men following s on July 30.
The Prime Minister , along with Kerala Governor Muhammed Arif Khan, the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijyan and the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi, made aerial observation of Mundukkai, Chooralmala and Punchirimattam.
Modi is visiting Chooralamala at the time of writing this, who will pay visit to Mundukkai and Punchirimattam for assessing the intensity of damage caused by the land slide. The Prime Minister will also visit relief camps and the persons undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According official estimates, 230 persons died following the landslides , of which 148 bodies were recovered from Wayanad and 76 bodies had been retrieved from the Chaliyar River in Nilambur. The official sources said that 152 persons were missing. As mny as 22 unidentified body parts were buried on Aug 06.
After visiting the landslides affected areas, the Prime Minister would attend a scheduled review meeting at the cllectorate here.
