NEW DELHI: The Government of India has achieved its target of creating 11 crore Farmer IDs, five months ahead of the March 31, 2027 deadline, under the Digital Agriculture Mission.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the target was achieved by the night of October 23 through coordinated efforts by the Centre, state governments and field-level officials.
The unique digital IDs are intended to simplify farmers’ access to government schemes, bank credit, crop insurance and disaster relief. The initiative is also expected to reduce paperwork, repeated verification and visits to government offices, ensuring more transparent and efficient delivery of benefits.
