Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Tuesday assured residents that comprehensive measures were being taken to maintain an uninterrupted drinking water supply in Hyderabad amid concerns over the potential impact of El Niño.
He also urged the public to use water responsibly and cooperate with the government’s conservation efforts to ensure adequate availability for all.
Jaju reviewed the preparedness of drinking water supply systems in Hyderabad’s core area during a meeting with officials, following directions from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure that sewage treatment plants (STPs) in gated communities and apartment complexes operate at full capacity, according to an official release.
The review focused on strengthening water management measures and ensuring the city’s preparedness to meet drinking water requirements amid possible weather-related challenges. The government has called for coordinated efforts by officials and residents to safeguard water availability.
