Delhi Police has requested an extension of the deployment of 273 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in the national capital until October 20, citing the possibility of protests by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and other organisations, official sources said on Tuesday.
In a letter to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the police sought an extension of the deployment, which was scheduled to end on Monday, to maintain law and order and respond to any potential disturbances.
According to a source, a total of 301 CAPF companies had been approved for deployment in Delhi. Of these, 221 companies received clearance on October 6, while another 80 were approved on October 8.
The request for an extension comes amid concerns over possible demonstrations in the capital. Security agencies are seeking to ensure adequate personnel remain available to manage the situation and maintain public order.
