Parliamentary Panel Flags NTA Irregularities; Congress Urges Centre to Take Report Seriously

New Delhi: The Congress on Sunday said a parliamentary standing committee report had highlighted serious lapses and alleged malpractice in the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Ministry of Education. The party urged the Narendra Modi-led government to take the findings seriously.

The report, titled Reforms and Strengthening of the National Testing Agency (NTA), reportedly questioned the Education Ministry’s claim that no paper leaks had occurred in examinations conducted by the NTA since its establishment in 2017.

Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said the report, prepared by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education under the chairmanship of Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Wasnik, had documented what he described as “grave incompetence and malpractice” in the NTA and the Education Ministry.

Ramesh also expressed hope that the government would set aside what he called its “arrogance” and act on the committee’s findings.
