AAP leaders detained during protest seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation

New Delhi: Several leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were detained by police on Sunday while protesting at India Gate, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The BJP accused the AAP of attempting to “vitiate Delhi’s political atmosphere” and disrupt law and order.

According to the AAP, Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, MLAs Sanjeev Jha and Kuldeep Kumar, along with 25 party workers and volunteers of its Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), were detained during the protest.

The demonstration was held as part of the AAP’s opposition to the functioning of the Election Commission under Gyanesh Kumar.
