The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will begin a month-long statewide campaign on October 2 demanding the withdrawal of the recently amended mining law passed by Parliament.
BJD president Naveen Patnaik will launch the campaign in Bhubaneswar on October 2. As part of the Jana Samparka Padayatra, party leaders will travel across Odisha and meet people in villages and households to explain the party’s opposition to the amended legislation.
The campaign will continue until November 2, BJD senior vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra said at a press conference.
The party plans to use the month-long outreach programme to mobilise public support for its demand to repeal the amended mining law.
