Bengaluru: A special court in Bengaluru on Friday directed the Karnataka Lokayukta police to submit their report on a private complaint alleging corruption and misuse of public office in connection with the Siddartha Vihar Trust.
The complaint has been filed against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, his son and Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge, and other relatives who are trustees of the Siddartha Vihar Trust.
The Additional City Civil and Sessions Court issued the direction after noting that complainant Vijayraghava Marathe had corrected a defect in his affidavit. The court observed that there was no legal impediment to proceeding with the complaint.
The case concerns allegations of irregularities and misuse of official position linked to the trust and the allotment of land. The Lokayukta police have now been asked to place their report before the court.
The allegations are yet to be established, and the court’s direction does not amount to a finding of guilt against any of the accused.
