New Delhi: The Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded Rs 76.72 lakh in compensation to a 24-year-old man who suffered 75 per cent permanent physical disability in his upper limbs and brain in a road accident.
Presiding Officer Deepika Singh was hearing a claim petition filed by Dinesh Kumar, who has remained in a bedridden-like condition since the accident and requires continuous nursing care and medical attention.
The tribunal observed that his severe injuries had left him unable to perform daily activities or earn a livelihood. It also noted that his life expectancy had been reduced as a result of the injuries.
In an order dated September 7, the tribunal held that the accident occurred due to the rash and negligent driving of the truck driver, who hit the petitioner’s scooty and caused the injuries.
