Rare Congenital Condition Discovered in 26-Year-Old Man During Infertility Evaluation in Delhi

New Delhi: A rare congenital condition was diagnosed in a 26-year-old man during an infertility evaluation at a Delhi hospital after doctors discovered a uterus-like structure and fallopian-tube-like structures inside his pelvis.

The man had approached RG Hospitals in Rajouri Garden with a history of primary infertility. Medical examinations found that he had azoospermia, a condition in which no sperm is present in the semen, along with undescended testes on both sides.

Further investigations, including MRI scans and genetic testing, revealed a uterus-like structure and tubular structures resembling fallopian tubes in the pelvic region, doctors said.Genetic testing showed that the patient had a 46,XY chromosome pattern, which is typically associated with male chromosomal development.

Doctors said the unusual condition had remained undetected until adulthood and was identified only during the evaluation for infertility. The case highlights the importance of detailed investigations in men presenting with unexplained infertility and reproductive abnormalities.
