Alappuzha: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Sunday attended the 115th anniversary celebrations of Kerala Kaumudi, describing its long journey as a reflection of public trust, courage and the enduring power of ideas.
Recalling the newspaper’s founding by C V Kunhiraman in 1911, he said Kerala Kaumudi has played a significant role in social awakening and in amplifying the concerns of marginalised and oppressed sections.
The Vice President stressed that credibility, accuracy, fairness and journalistic ethics must remain central to journalism despite the rapid shift from print to television, digital platforms, social media and artificial intelligence.
He urged the media to promote constructive journalism by highlighting scientific achievements, innovation, social service and positive change, while advocating a balanced approach to development and environmental protection.
Radhakrishnan also presented the Kerala Kaumudi Excellence Awards at the event, attended by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and other dignitaries.
