Thane: Record-holding Nepalese mountaineer Nima Rinji Sherpa shared his remarkable climbing journey during a goodwill visit to Thane on Sunday.
Speaking at an event organised by a local trust, Sherpa recalled the early lessons he learned from his father and uncle and spoke about his experiences confronting harsh conditions and natural disasters at high altitudes.
He also recounted his historic ascent of Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest mountain, which he climbed at the age of 15.
Sherpa achieved another milestone in 2024, becoming the youngest mountaineer in history to summit all 14 of the world’s peaks above 8,000 metres, at the age of 18.
