Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will pilot a resolution in the state Assembly on Wednesday urging the Centre to permanently maintain the strength of the Lok Sabha at 543, official sources said.
The move comes days after Vijay held a meeting with all parties supporting the state government, including the Congress and the Left parties, which extend support from outside.
The resolution will urge the Union government to maintain the Lok Sabha-Rajya Sabha strength ratio at 2.2:1, sources said.
The government-sponsored resolution is also expected to call for the implementation of 33 per cent reservation for women in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections without delay, based on the existing strength of 543 seats in the Lower House.
