Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday accused the BJP-led Odisha government of failing to ensure an adequate supply of fertilisers during the ongoing Kharif season, alleging that the shortage has left lakhs of farmers in severe distress.
The opposition party also claimed that rampant black marketing of fertilisers is taking place across the state, blaming the situation on what it described as a complete administrative failure.
Rejecting the allegations, the Odisha government maintained that there is no shortage of fertilisers in the state and asserted that adequate stocks are available to meet farmers’ requirements during the Kharif cultivation season.
