Skopje: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday addressed the Assembly of North Macedonia, calling for stronger parliamentary cooperation and deeper bilateral ties between the two democracies.
Speaking in the presence of North Macedonia’s President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Murmu said India views North Macedonia as an important partner in building a stable, multipolar, and prosperous global future. She highlighted the centuries-old historical links between the two regions and stressed that democracy remains a shared value.
The President underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, urging lawmakers from both countries to strengthen institutional cooperation and exchange best practices in governance and public policy.
Highlighting shifting global geopolitical and economic dynamics, Murmu described North Macedonia as a strategic gateway connecting the Mediterranean with Central Europe and reaffirmed India’s commitment to expanding trade, investment, and regional engagement.
Emphasising India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), she called for greater international cooperation to promote peace and shared prosperity.
Union Minister of State Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya and MPs Dinesh Sharma and Vijay Baghel were also present during the address.
