Maharashtra Government Proposes Higher Subsidy for Women Under Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has proposed to increase the subsidy offered under its Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme for women from 20 per cent to 40 per cent, aiming to encourage greater financial independence and employment opportunities for women.

According to an official statement, the enhanced subsidy will not only benefit new applicants but will also be extended to women who have already purchased e-rickshaws under the scheme.

The proposed increase is expected to reduce the financial burden on women entrepreneurs and promote the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles while creating more self-employment opportunities across the state.

The government said the move reflects its commitment to empowering women through sustainable livelihood initiatives and improving their participation in the transport sector.
