Teacher Booked After Fifth-Grade Student Suffers Fractured Arm in Alleged Cane Beating

Malappuram: Police have registered a case against a teacher after a fifth-grade student allegedly suffered a fractured arm following a cane beating at a school in Kallingal, Kalpakanchery, Malappuram.

The incident occurred on Thursday when the mathematics teacher of MSM HSS Kallingalparamba allegedly beat the student with a cane, reportedly for not paying attention in class. The child sustained a fracture in her arm as a result of the assault.

The student’s family has also lodged a complaint with the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

The child’s mother alleged that despite the injury, the school authorities did not take the student to a hospital. Instead, teachers reportedly dropped the child home without arranging medical treatment. The family later took the student to a hospital, where the fracture was confirmed.

Police have registered a case against the teacher and further investigation is underway.
