New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to install a solar tree at the Delhi Secretariat as part of its efforts to promote clean and renewable energy, officials said on Friday.
The proposed installation aims to enhance the use of solar power at the Secretariat, which houses the offices of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
According to a senior official, the government plans to expand the initiative to other parts of the city after the successful implementation of the solar tree at the Secretariat.
A solar tree is a structure in which photovoltaic (PV) panels are arranged in the shape of a tree, allowing maximum exposure to sunlight and improving the generation of solar energy while occupying less ground space.
