Kochi: IAS officer K. Biju, Secretary of Kerala’s Cashew Department, on Friday tendered an unconditional apology before the Kerala High Court after being criticised over the wording of a government order sanctioning the CBI to prosecute officials of the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) in a 2015 corruption case.
In his apology, Biju said it was never his intention to undermine or diminish the authority of the High Court. He also acknowledged that the language used in the sanction order was inappropriate.
The officer admitted that the contents of the order could create the impression that the government had issued the sanction solely on the court’s directions, without independently applying its mind. The apology came after the High Court expressed strong displeasure over the wording of the government order.
